PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Open Workshops - Each year Babel runs two Open Workshops exploring different themes and are rooted in Babel’s creative practice. These workshops focus on the exercises and techniques Babel uses in the rehearsal room, including the study of neutral mask, biomechanics, clowning, storytelling, chorus and performance skills.
Babel Intensives - Jump into Babel’s intense theatre making process exploring the company’s movement language and techniques In a high energy workshop with Artistic Director Joseph Lynch. These workshops explore Babel’s bold cinematic approach, combining movement, music and language to create fierce and striking theatre.
CONNECT - ‘bring together into contact so that a real and notional link is established’
Focussing on a key aspect of Babel’s work we unpack some of the fundamentals of ensemble theatre making in a deep, rooted and intense period. In this intensive physical exploration of ensemble training, we explore and develop a profound sense of connection to ourselves, to each other and to the space around us.
CREATIVE PRACTICE
Self Producing/ Running a Theatre Company - We lead professional development workshops for companies and drama schools sharing our insights and practice in running a theatre company, which includes writing funding applications, securing partners, strategy planning, budgeting and planning arts events.
Devising Practice - We lead devising workshops for companies, theatres and drama schools around the UK which give a detailed breakdown of Babel’s investigative and collaborative approach to creating a show. We examine best practices and share a detailed methodology of process that Is our foundation for creative practice.
Theatres, Universities and Drama Schools - Babel regularly collaborate with institutions to deliver specific projects or modules for learning outcomes. In the last 5 years we have worked with ALRA, The Arden, Barbican, East 15, HOME, Manchester Airport, numerous Secondary Schools and Colleges, and local councils.

WORKSHOPS
Participation is at the heart of our practice. We teach workshops across the UK and internationally that investigate the rigour of performer training and the search for theatrical poetry. Below are some of the ways we regularly do this. We can also offer bespoke workshops to suit the needs of your community or students.
