It Starts With Us
About
What do we owe each other?
We are all indebted, socially, financially, romantically. Tied to each other.
What are the terms of these often unspoken agreements? And crucially…what are the costs?
Babel’s latest creation delves into the complex nature of everyday pressures and the pursuit of happiness and success professionally and socially! The physical and mental challenges of living in the modern world.
‘It Starts With Us’ explores the unwritten contracts we sign with our families, friends, co-workers and society at large asking 'what do we inherit from family and society?' and, 'how can we step out of and break cycles of behaviour?'. The show follows a central Black female character and explores her relationship to her mother, her partner, her boss, and her unborn child, and is a riotous, frantic call to arms, to find new ways of living.
This show is currently in development and we're always looking for fresh voices and perspectives so we'd love you to be part of the show’s creation period by joining us in conversation HERE, and look out for lots of opportunities to jump on the floor HERE too.
